Workplace Advocate was founded in 2024. Founder and CEO Veronica Torres is a career educator and expert in Education Leadership. In her twenty-year career, she has served in various roles that have informed her of the many issues that educators navigate today - including mounting pressures by leaders and the community, the broadened scope of responsibilities that educators face with limited support, seeking the equitable pay that education professionals deserve, and the misuse of the evaluation and feedback process to target, threaten, and intimidate.
Veronica has earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan, one of the nation's top-performing public universities, and earned her Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from Florida Atlantic University. Over the years, Veronica has served as a teacher, school-based Curriculum Coach, Curriculum Specialist, Assistant Principal, and Solutions Consultant of a world-famous Ed Tech company. She has worked alongside Dr. Robert Marzano focused on developing in-depth knowledge of the theory behind and practice of education evaluation and its intended developmental and supportive goals and outcomes.
Veronica also has firsthand experience as an employee navigating the challenges of a toxic workplace and understands the short- and long-term effects of rampant bullying, constant scrutiny and gaslighting. These global issues can be faced by anyone at any time - and they do not discriminate. Through these firsthand experiences, Veronica has developed a deep passion for educator support. She is eager to devote her career to navigating these waters and helping educators earn the respect they deserve. We at Workplace Advocate recognize that it is time to level the playing field, holding bad actors and poor evaluators responsible for their unethical practices.
